On February 6, 2007, hundreds of staff, volunteers and clients of Catholic Charities from across the state of Texas assembled at the Capitol to bring the voices of the poor to the 80th Legislature. They delivered angel food cakes to all members of the legislature, reminding them to be "angels" and join Catholic Charities in providing help and creating hope for all Texans. Catholic Charities was honored in the House and Senate and Bishop Aymond served as the Pastor of the Day in the Senate.
Rhonda Sepulveda of Houston distributes angel food cakes.
Dear Legislators,
For more than half a century Catholic Charities in Texas have been providing help and creating hope for the poor and vulnerable residents of Texas. As an advocate for social justice, Catholic Charities empowers the community through action and education, asserting the principle of human dignity. As a servant leader, Catholic Charities calls all people of good will to the work of charity and justice. As the 80th Texas Legislature convenes, we seek to remind state legislators of their unique role in providing help and creating hope for Texans.
Our Prayers are with you as you deliberate on these important issues this session, arivas@txcatholic.org
