Welcome to the Texas Catholic Conference, the Official Public Policy Voice of the Catholic Bishops of Texas.
OUR MISSION
The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas.
A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies. The public policy issues addressed by the Conference include institutional concerns of the Catholic Church as well as issues related to Catholic social teachings.

Departments
|

There are currently 20 departments of the Texas Catholic Conference that reflect the typical departments of the dioceses of Texas. Membership in the departments is based on the constitution of the Texas Catholic Conference. The following deparement descriptions reflect the current TCC constitution.
Episcopal Department: All Roman Catholic Bishops of Texas (1-4 per diocese)
The Administration Department: Diocesan Chancellors, Vicar Generals, Moderators of the Curia, and/or Episcopal Vicars (1-5 per diocese)
Finance Department: Directors of Finance, Personnel, and/or Administration (1-3 per diocese)
Tribunal Department: Judicial Vicars of Diocesan and Appellate Tribunals (1-2 per diocese)
Liturgy Department: Diocesan Directors of Liturgy or Offices of Worship (1-2 per diocese)
Department of Religious Education: Directors of Religious Education (1 per diocese)
Department of Priests Representatives: Elected representatives of the Diocesan Presbyteral Councils (1 per diocese)
Department of Religious: Elected representatives of the Diocesan Councils of Religious. (1 per diocese)
Department of Deacons: One deacon representative from each diocese. (1 per dicocese)
Superintendents Department: Diocesan Superintendents of Schools (1 per diocese)
Vocations Department: Composed of the diocesan Directors of Vocations and the rectors of Seminaries in the state. (1-3 per diocese)
Department of Catholic Charities: Diocesan Directors of Catholic Charities (1 per diocese)
Department of Social Action: Diocesan Directors of Social Action, Community Relations, and Rural Life (1-3 per diocese)
Department of Hispanic Ministry: Diocesan Directors of Hispanic Ministry (1 per diocese)
Department of Black Ministry: Diocesan Directors of Black Ministry (1 per diocese)
Family Life Department: Diocesan Directors of Family Life programs (also Respect Life) (1-3 per diocese)
Department of Ecumenism: Diocesan Directors of Ecumenical Affairs (1 per diocese)
Communications Department: Editors of Diocesan newspapers, Diocesan Directors of Information, and/or Directors of Radio and Television (1-3 per diocese)
Youth Department: Diocesan Directors of Youth Activities, Young Adult Activities, and/or Campus Ministry Activities. (1-3 per diocese)
Pastoral Council Department: At least one lay member of each Diocesan Pastoral Council or the Diocesan Bishop may appoint a lay person if there is no diocesan pastoral council. (1 per diocese)
