Welcome to the Texas Catholic Conference, the Official Public Policy Voice of the Catholic Bishops of Texas.
OUR MISSION
The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas.
A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies. The public policy issues addressed by the Conference include institutional concerns of the Catholic Church as well as issues related to Catholic social teachings.

Solidarity in an Election Year: 5th Annual Rev. William J. Young Social Justice Summer Conference

The University of St. Thomas will host the 5th Annual Rev. William J. Young Social Justice Summer Conference on June 4-6, 2008. This year’s theme is “Solidarity in an Election Year.” The conference will focus on the principle of solidarity, in the context of immigration and globalization issues, as well as Forming Conscience for Faithful Citizenship from the USCCB and the issue of the Catholic vote in recent elections. The Young Social Justice Conference is named after the late Rev. William Young, a Basilian priest who served tirelessly for Justice and peace issues in the Houston-Galveston region of Texas over the past three decades. This conference is open to the public.
