Bishop Plácido Rodríguez, CMF

Bishop Plácido Rodríguez was born on October 11, 1940, the 11th of 14 children born to Eutemio and Maria Concepcion Rodríguez. He attended Celaya's Colegio Vasco de Quiroga, a Catholic elementary school, until January 13, 1953 when his father and mother emigrated to Chicago with their six youngest children. Bishop Rodríguez was ordained a Claretian priest in Chicago. He was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago where he served in this role for 8 years before being appointed the third bishop of the diocese of Lubbock in 1995. Bishop Rodríguez currently serves as Chairman of the Bishops' Committee on Hispanic Affairs.

Our Mission The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas. A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies. The public policy issues addressed by the Conference include institutional concerns of the Catholic Church as well as issues related to Catholic moral and social teachings. Learn more about us.
