HB 561 is going to be proposed as an amendment today to HB 3790, which is set to be heard today on the House floor. Please contact your Representative today and ask him/her to support this amendment.

Sample Message: "Hello, my name is Name and I am a Catholic in  City,  Texas.  As a Catholic, I believe that all human life is sacred, from conception until natural death. As a constituent, I am asking that you support Representative Christian's amendment on page 209 of the pre-filed amendment package for House Bill 3790, which will ensure that taxpayer dollars do not fund abortion in Texas.  Abortion takes the life of an innocent human being, and using public funding for abortion violates the consciences of taxpayers in Texas.  For more information you can contact the Texas Catholic Conference at 512-339-9882. Thank you for your time."

Please act today, May 5, 2011. If you contact the office and this alert has already expired, you may ask for your legislator's position and thank him or her or express your disappointment accordingly. Please feel free to write to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Why is this action important now?
HB 3790, a fiscal matters bill, must pass for the budget to be certified. If this amendment is added, it will ensure that taxpayer dollars do not fund abortion. The bill will be voted on today in the House, which is why we are asking you to call and email your Texas Representative as soon as possible today.

Our Catholic Faith
"We are not asking that the government adopt a religious creed.  We are demanding that it stand in favor of life, not death.  It is not humane for a government that claims to protect what is good in human life and society to stand indifferent to the choice between the life and death of an unborn child.  At the very least, the government should promote the option for life"  - Bishop Daniel Flores, Diocese of Brownsville

The inviolability of the innocent human being's right to life "from the moment of conception until death" is a sign and requirement of the very inviolability of the person to whom the Creator has given the gift of life (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Donum Vitae). Abortion always takes the innocent life of an unborn child and must never be allowed. Learn more here.
