Sample Message: "Hello, my name is Name and I am a Catholic in City , Texas and as your constituent, I ask that you support Rep Christian's amendment to SB 8 that will ban taxpayer funding for abortion, and Rep. Rodriguez's amendment to SB 1581 that will expand access to summer nutrition programs. Abortion takes the life of an innocent human being, and using public funding for abortion violates the consciences of taxpayers in Texas which is why I ask you to support Representative Christian's amendment. Regarding Representative Rodriguez's amendment, it is vital that our most vulnerable children have access to summer nutrition programs. This bill is a targeted solution to help provide food to Texas' neediest children. Thank you for your time. For more information you can contact the Texas Catholic Conference at 512-339-9882."

Our Catholic Faith
"We are not asking that the government adopt a religious creed.  We are demanding that it stand in favor of life, not death.  It is not humane for a government that claims to protect what is good in human life and society to stand indifferent to the choice between the life and death of an unborn child.  At the very least, the government should promote the option for life"  - Bishop Daniel Flores, Diocese of Brownsville

The inviolability of the innocent human being's right to life "from the moment of conception until death" is a sign and requirement of the very inviolability of the person to whom the Creator has given the gift of life (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Donum Vitae). Abortion always takes the innocent life of an unborn child and must never be allowed. Learn more here.

"The protection of life includes taking reasonable measures to maintain the gift of our physical health by proper nutrition and exercise.  In addition to these personal responsibilities, the community has an obligation to protect the common good through policies to support public health." -Bishop David Fellhauer, Diocese of Victoria

Child Nutrition programs provide millions of children with nutritious meals. For many children, these programs provide their only meals of the day. Meeting the needs of so many families in need of basic nutrition is an important investment that also provides a stimulative effect for agriculture, for local businesses and for communities.

Quotes from Catholic Teaching:
"Hunger threatens not only people's lives but also their dignity. A serious and protracted lack of food breaks down the organism, generating apathy, a loss of a social sense, and indifference or even cruelty towards those who are weaker — particularly children and the elderly. (Pontifical Council “Cor Unum”, World Hunger A Challenge for All: Development in Solidarity)"

"And how can we fail to consider the violence against life done to millions of human beings, especially children who are forced into poverty, malnutrition and hunger because of an unjust distribution of resources between peoples and between social classes. (Blessed John Paul II, The Gospel of Life)"
