TCC Position on Landtroop Amendment to SB 23

The Texas Catholic Conference opposes all state funding to abortion providers and for contraceptive services. For that reason, we are not taking a position on the Landtroop amendment to SB 23, which sets for priorities for how contraceptive funding is distributed.  However, we believe that the perfecting amendment that will be offered in the conference committee is an improvement over current practice.

Our Mission The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas. A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies.
