House and Senate Accept Conference Committee Report on SB 7
June 27, 2011

June 27, 2011 Update: The House and Senate have adopted the conference committee report to SB 7. The bill now goes to the Governor.

The Conference Committee report for SB 7, an omnibus health care bill, includes critical amendments that ban taxpayer funding for abortion. The report has been adopted by the House and Senate and now goes to the Governor.

Why is this action important now?
SB 7 has already passed with this critical provision to protect life and the Conference Committee has voted to keep this provision in place.  There are nearly 1,000 abortion performed every year in Travis county using taxpayer funds through the hospital district and this amendment will save lives.  The House and Senate  MUST vote to adopt the conference committee report to protect unborn life and the consciences of taxpayers.  The vote will be taken in the House as early as today and in the Senate as early as tomorrow, which is why we are asking you to call and email your Texas Representative as soon as possible today.

Our Catholic Faith
"We are not asking that the government adopt a religious creed.  We are demanding that it stand in favor of life, not death.  It is not humane for a government that claims to protect what is good in human life and society to stand indifferent to the choice between the life and death of an unborn child.  At the very least, the government should promote the option for life"  - Bishop Daniel Flores, Diocese of Brownsville

The inviolability of the innocent human being's right to life "from the moment of conception until death" is a sign and requirement of the very inviolability of the person to whom the Creator has given the gift of life (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Donum Vitae). Abortion always takes the innocent life of an unborn child and must never be allowed. Learn more here.
