Bishop Flores Featured on TCC Policy Podcast
Bishop Flores provides keynote addressThe Texas Catholic Conference (TCC) is amplifying its role as the policy voice of the bishops of Texas by reviving its podcast series on public issues affecting Catholics across the state.

The TCC Policy Podcast Series marked its return with an address by Bishop Daniel E. Flores of Brownsville on “Violence on The Border: Consequences & Pastoral Responses” at a recent Immigration Symposium hosted by the Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) in San Antonio. TCC will be regularly posting podcasts with policy updates, guest interviews, commentaries, and other featured addresses and presentations from dioceses from across the state. You can listen to podcasts on our iTunes podcast or on the TCC Audio Archive web page.

USCCB Action Alert: Urge Members of the Deficit "Super Committee" to Protect the Vulnerable

The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, also known as the “Super Committee”, is formulating a plan to reduce the federal deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next ten years. It is imperative that efforts to reduce the deficit do not disproportionately cut programs that serve the most poor and vulnerable. Use the links below to contact the House and Senate members on the committee and urge them to protect programs that serve the most vulnerable. Cardinal DiNardo Calls for Greater Conscience Protection in Health Care Reform
Congress should strengthen conscience protections for health care providers and ensure that health care reform measures do not impede religious liberty, said Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, the U.S. bishops’ chairman of Pro-Life Activities on the eve of a hearing by the House Subcommittee on Health, “Do New Health Law Mandates Threaten Conscience Rights and Access to Care?”

In a November 1 letter to subcommittee chairman Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-Pennsylvania), Cardinal DiNardo urged support for the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179/S. 1467) and other measures to address flaws in health care reform.
