Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, celebrated his one-year anniversary as leader of more than 700,000 Catholics in the archdiocese on Nov. 23. He presided at a noon Mass at San Fernando Cathedral to offering thanksgiving for the blessings of his first year. Since his installation, Archbishop Gustavo has visited 110 of the 139 parishes in the archdiocese for a variety of celebrations and has become known for his personal spirituality and openness to all he meets.

He has celebrated Mass at each of the deaneries, gathering people from churches throughout the archdiocese, both rural and urban, for prayer and fellowship.

During his first year, the archbishop has worked to understand the plight of the poor, something very near his heart. He has visited Haven for Hope, The San Antonio Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, and attended activities sponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Read More...
