We are pleased to announce that SB 16 – the Access-to-Sonogram bill – passed out of the Senate State Affairs committee on Wednesday evening. You can read our testimony on the bill here. The bill will be going to the Senate Floor, so we are asking that you contact your State Senator to request that he or she support this bill. Feel free to use the message in the action alert section below. Also, House Committee assignments were announced this week, which means that several of our bills have been referred to committee and will start to be heard in committee. We will be sure to include those bills in our weekly email, and if a bill is in a hearing less than a week in advance, we will send the action alert to you based on your email subscription settings.

Action Alerts:

Sample Message: "Hello, my name is Name  and I am a Catholic in  CITY,  Texas and as a constituent I ask that you support Senate Bill 16. This legislation would require a physician to review a woman's ultrasound with her prior to her having an abortion. The woman is not required to view the ultrasound. I support this bill because it provides the mother with more information about her unborn child and may help the mother realize the humanity of her unborn child and choose life. Thank you for your time. For more information you can contact the Texas Catholic Conference at 512-339-9882."

SB 260 will be heard in committee next week, please call the committee members listed in the table on the right and ask for their support. You can use the following message:

Senate HHS Committee“Hello, my name is  Name   and I am a Catholic in CITY, Texas. I am calling to ask for your support of Senate Bill 260. This legislation increases the number of training hours for day-care center employees. I support this bill because it supports quality in day care services. Thank you for your time. For more information you can contact the Texas Catholic Conference at 512-339-9882 ."
