Welcome to the Texas Catholic Conference, the Official Public Policy Voice of the Catholic Bishops of Texas.

OUR MISSION
The primary purpose of the Conference is to encourage and foster cooperation and communication among the dioceses and the ministries of the Catholic Church of Texas.
A major function of the Conference is to be the public policy arm of the Conference's Board of Directors, the bishops of Texas, before the Texas legislature, the Texas delegation in Congress, and state agencies. The public policy issues addressed by the Conference include institutional concerns of the Catholic Church as well as issues related to Catholic moral and social teachings.

Senate Intent Calendar
The following bills have reached the Senate Intent Calendar. Two-thirds of the senators present must vote to allow the bill to be debated before a vote on the bill can be taken. The senate routinely considers only a portion of those bills listed on the Intent Calendar for a given day, so you may see bills in this section for several weeks.
We invite you to contact your State Senator and ask him or her to vote with us on the following legislation. You are welcome to use the Texas Catholic Conference summary and position (provided below) when you call, and refer any questions to us at (512) 339-9882. If your Senator will not vote with the Texas Catholic Conference, we encourage you to request that he or she at least vote to allow the bill to be debated. To get a list of your legislators and their contact information, visit the "Who Represents Me" section of the Texas Legislature web site here and insert your address. You can also download out Legislator Contact Information handout here to keep contact information accessible during session.

House Calendar
Because the house calendar is updated daily, we cannot provide sufficient lead time on bills, but we will post them online on our twitter account, which you can access here. You do not need to have a Twitter Account to view our updates. You can also check our Home Page and Action Alert page to see if there are any pressing bills that we have requested calls on.
If we feel that a bill needs particular support or opposition, we will send an email alert out via our action alert system. You can also download out Legislator Contact Information handout here to keep contact information accessible during session.
